- ▪ Current limiting — clears the fault within the first half cycle, so peak let-through current and I²t reaching the transformer are far below the prospective short-circuit level
- ▪ Rated breaking capacity 50 kA on IB-D1 / IB-D2 / IB-D3 (31.5 kA on the 2 A IB-D0 back-up type, 25 kA on IB-D4)
- ▪ Striker fitted — fires on operation to trip a three-phase load break switch after a single-phase fault, so no phase is left energised
- ▪ Watertight construction, rated by the manufacturer for indoor or outdoor service
- ▪ Low power loss, which matters inside the confined fuse holders of SF6 gas-insulated switchgear where heat cannot escape easily
- ▪ One base fits the whole range — 442 mm contact spacing and 510 mm length are common to every rating
